We don't just host telescopes.
We build observatories.
The people, the place, and 27 years of engineering work that made this facility possible.
Built from scratch — twice.
It started in 1998. Carlos, a Telecommunications Engineer, pointed his first telescope at the Canarian sky and recognised something most of the world had already lost: real, uncompromised darkness.
What followed was not a hobby. It was two decades of hands-on engineering — electronics, structural mechanics, dome fabrication, control software, automation systems. That work led to public contracts with the Canary Islands Government, island councils, and municipalities across the archipelago.
The Temisas Observatory, commissioned by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, is one of them — designed, engineered, fabricated and installed by Carlos, from structural blueprint to the finished dome.
Temisas Observatory, Gran Canaria — commissioned by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria. Designed, fabricated and installed by Carlos.
In 2022 he applied that same experience to something more personal: a permanent remote hosting facility for astrophotographers and researchers who need a site that is not just good on paper — but measurably, verifiably excellent.
Four years of measurement. One decision.
We didn't pick La Palma from a brochure. We spent four years on the ground — comparing ridgelines, cloud patterns, wind exposure and atmospheric stability across candidate sites on the island. Every data point from our own instruments, cross-referenced against historical meteorological records.
The site we chose sits at 1,360 metres on the leeward flank, above the marine inversion layer that traps cloud banks on the windward side below 1,500 metres. Sheltered from the north-easterly trade winds. Stable air. Minimal light pollution. Maximum sky access.
311 clear nights per year. SQM 22.03.
Not an estimate — measured, with our own instruments, over four years.
Two people. Full responsibility.
Carlos · Engineer & Founder
27 years in astronomy and observatory engineering. Responsible for every system at the facility: electronics, networking, dome mechanics, automation, and the infrastructure that keeps your instrument running at 3 a.m. when you're asleep.
Cristina · Director of Operations
Chemist by training, director by vocation. Cristina manages every contract, every logistics process and every client relationship — with the rigour a scientific background demands and the care that long-term partnerships require.
Together they have delivered observatory projects for the Canary Islands Government, island councils and private institutions across the archipelago.
Your telescope deserves the right sky.
27 years of engineering experience, four years of site measurement, and a facility built to keep your instrument running without you having to be there. If you're serious about your setup, let's talk.
